Alice In Wonderland
Director Tim Burton is back with the 3-D fantasy "Alice In Wonderland," opening nationwide this weekend. Mia Wasikowska [[Vash-I-Kov-Ska]] stars as a 19-year-old Alice, who finds herself back in Wonderland with a new destiny. Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter. Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen. Anne Hathaway is her sister, the White Queen. Michael Sheen, Crispin Glover, and Stephen Fry also star. "Alice In Wonderland" is rated PG.
Brooklyn's Finest
Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle, and Richard Gere play "Brooklyn's Finest" on the big screen this weekend. The story centers on three NYPD police officers who become ensnared in a drug investigation. Wesley Snipes, Will Patton, Ellen Barkin, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Shannon Kane also star. The script for the film was written by Michael C. Martin, who used to work as a subway traffic guard in New York. Antoine Fuqua -- who collaborated with Hawke on "Training Day" -- directs. "Brooklyn's Finest" is rated R.
Bluebeard
"Bluebeard," the film adaptation of a fairytale by Charles Perrault, opens in limited release this weekend. The film focuses on a young French girl -- Marie-Catherine -- who is married off to a frightening ogre who likes to kill his wives. Marie-Catherine must do whatever she can to survive her grim fate. Dominique Thomas, Lola Creton, and Daphne Baiwir star. Catherine Breillat directs. "Bluebeard" is not rated.
Harlem Aria
Gabriel Casseus and Damon Wayans star in "Harlem Aria," in limited release this weekend. Casseus plays Anton, an intellectually disabled man who has a gift for opera singing. Wayans stars as an "Honest John" who convinces Anton to leave the safety of his mother's home and venture out into the world. This sets the vulnerable Anton on a journey. Paul Sorvino and Nicole Ari Parker also star. Will Jennings directs. "Harlem Aria" is rated R.
